Abstract

The present work is undertaken to make a systematic solution study of the complex formation of Ferrous(II) ion with the chalcones derived from 3-acetyl- 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-coumarin and cinnamaldehyde, 3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde and 2-nitrobenzaldehyde.The stability constant of their complexes with Ferrous(II) ions, have been studied by using Irving-Rossotti method at constant temperature 300 ±  10 C and ionic strength µ  = 0.1 M dm-3.
