Abstract

The observation of Vedic literature makes it clear that in the contemporary society, the birth of a daughter was not so anxious as it had been in the past. Like the sons, the daughter also got the rights of Upaniyan, education-initiation and yagya-1. There was not much difference between the social and religious rights of both. Many Vedic women are mentioned in Vedic literature, which were very well-versed in men. Of these, Apala, Ghosh (R 10, 39, 40), Lopamudra (Rtd. 1.179), Vishwara (Rt 5.28), Sikta (Rt 2.8.91) and Nivarwari (9.81) also composed rituals like sages. Probably because of his scholarship, the names of the sons of some of the sons were associated with the names of their mothers. In the Rigveda, their place is also described as irreverent .3 The Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 4 describes the story of Gargi and Yagnavalkya's debate in the Raja Sabha of Videhraj Janak It is known from which women not only participated in meetings, but also their intellectual level was not less than men.
