Abstract

The famous Govind Saheb of Purvanchal is a very important place from the point of view of faith and tourism. At this place, people offer khichdi and chadar at the tomb of Baba throughout the year. The fair here takes place especially on the tenth day of the bright fortnight of Aghan month, which is known as Govind Dashami. This fair runs for a full month. Here, Govind saheb was born on the tenth day of Aghan month. About four hundred years ago, Baba Govind Sahab took the living Samadhi at this place. Since that time, a grand fair is organized at this tourism center on Dashami date every year. Here, lakhs of devotees come and bathe in Govind Sarovar, revolve around the holy Gobid Saheb Math and offer khichdi as per their faith. Where devotees shop for treasures, red sugarcane, the exhibitions of the bird house, hammock, circus, theatre, death well, black magic and cultural tableaux by the tourism department become the main attraction of the fair. Apart from farming equipments, elephant, horse, mule, and other cattle are marketed. Where devotees / tourists shop for them.
