Abstract

In the later age, the word Guru and Acharya were prevalent for the scholars who taught Veda or Shastra or other subjects, but in that sense the Upadhyaya word was not practiced. This Upadhyaya term remains a title of a class of Brahmins. In the respectful society, the words of Guru and Acharya are often used in the same meaning; yet the dignity of Acharya is more understood. Therefore, the word Shachacharya is very popular nowadays for the expression of uniqueness in the educated society.
