The present study describes the Synthesis, characterization and biological activities of two thiosemicarbazone ligands i.e. 4-Nitroacetophenonethiosemicarbazone (4NAT) and 3-Nitrobenzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone (3NBT). The thiosemicarbazone ligands i.e. 4NAT and 3NBT have been synthesized by the condensation reaction of 4-Nitroacetophenone and 3-Nitrobenzaldehyde with thiosemicarbazide by conventional heating method as well as microwave irradiations method. The synthesized compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, melting point determination, FTIR, UV-visible spectral analysis. The synthesized ligands have been screened in vitro for antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis bacteria.
