Abstract

It is important to understand the psychological aspects of environmental problems in order to encourage people to act in a way that is good for the environment and to solve world problems. We look at the most important psychological factors that affect how people think and act about the world in this literature review. The study brings together the results of previous environmental psychology research that looked at things like values, attitudes, barriers, and communication methods. The research points out that positive attitudes and ecological ideals play a big role in encouraging people to act in ways that are good for the environment. Universalist and sensitive personality traits are linked to caring about the environment and living in a way that doesn't harm it. People really do have problems with cognitive conflict and other things they think are stopping them from changing their behavior. Using reliable sources and wording words in a way that fits with social norms are two effective ways to change people's thoughts and actions about the environment. Going forward, we should focus on more studies that look at how society affects people, studies that track attitudes over time, and new behavioral therapies that are based on neuroscience and technology. With the information gathered from these projects, policies and programs can be made that are based on facts and can help people and the world get along better.
