Abstract

Chanakyavijayam is a unique drama in the tradition of Sanskrit dramas. In Sanskrit dramas, it is often presented in the form of prototype, but it is the exception of Uttara Ramchrishna, Visakhadatta's Pradarakshas and Acharya Vishweshwar Devsharma Preneet Chanakyavijayam etc. It is an exception. "Ek Av Bhavadangi Shringar Veer and Va." 1 According to this theatrical rule, heroes and make-up should be used as an anchor in the hero. But Bhavabhuti has accepted Karun Ras as the principal interest, while expecting this principle, that the same has been done for him in the 2nd and the Uttara Ramcharit. While accepting the theatrical principles, Veer Rasa has been considered as the Angaras in Pradarakshas and Chanakyavijayam.
