The condition of the Shudra has been pathetic since ancient times. Even in the Buddhist era he was considered very low and hey. He was bound by a variety of controls and shackles. His main function was to serve the Dwijos. It is known from the Pali Tripitaka and Dharmasutras that in the Buddhist era many sub-castes were considered as Shudras. By the way, under the varna system of Shudra, it was considered as the fourth varna.
