Abstract

There is a need to do some serious self-inspection after 72 years of independence, especially in the field of public education. Compared to the neglect of education during the period of colonial rule, there has been a commendable expansion in facilities, but the curse of illiteracy and lack cannot be completely eradicated. Although the participation of Dalits, tribal persons and women has improved over the last five decades, uneven development in our cognitive social system is reflected in indicators of educational levels of different communities. Female literacy is less than thirty percent in about forty percent of our districts. In almost one out of four districts, women have less than ten percent literacy among Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes. About one-third of the children enrolled in school leave middle school before completing five years of primary education, and more than half of the children stop studying before completing eight years of primary education. . Half of the children who remain in school are able to 'barely' attain the academic standards that are expected of them. Most government primary schools usually have classrooms that do not mind going, do not have electricity, drinking water or toilet facilities and are filled with children of different ages. A normal school usually has two teachers who try to control the children of the five elementary classes; policing, and more often ask the children to copy or read from the textbooks . The address of a normal school is known from a distance - the loud voices and shouts of children chanting their 'Mantras', which lack childlike, easy, joyful and joyful blossom.
