Abstract

In Sanskrit literature, the use of words like Ksoum, Kaushay, etc. is found. Their meaning is silk cloth. But they were known by different names due to their different types. They were also produced in different areas. For this, silk was produced from various types of reared insects. These insects thrive on different trees and produce different colored silks. This business appears to precede the epics mainly because the epics contain a lot of material in relation to the silk industry, but in the later literary texts, they are mentioned somewhere in context. Since then, this industry has continued to grow.
