Feminist Attitude in Modern Poetry : Form and Identity

Abstract

Poetry writing has its own unique identity among literary genres because poetry is an effective literary form in terms of expression of feelings. This is why poetry has remained a powerful medium of creativity for thousands of years. If we look at the modern times, it is clear that the magic of poetry has now reached even the deprived sections of the society. In modern times, the deprived groups of the society have first expressed their oppressed voices through poetry. Deprived groups like women, Dalits etc. can be seen clearly in this context. It can be said that poetry has emerged as a powerful creative medium for these deprived people groups. In a way, it also reflects the literary conflict between the privileged people and the deprived people. For example, the poetesses of the modern era have given new meaning to the traditional classical approach and form of poetry writing through their poems by expressing their self-realization and have challenged the male chauvinism present in literature by writing their own plight.
