Power Quality is a major concern for power system utilities become of several events of voltage collapses. The term electric power quality broadly refers to maintaining a near sinusoidal power distribution bus voltage at rated magnitude and frequency. Also, the energy supplied to a customer must be uninterrupted from the reliability point of view. It is to be noted that even though power quality (PQ) is mainly a distribution system problem, power transmission systems may also have an impact on the quality of power. In this paper a PI control algorithm with space vector pulse width modulation method (SVPWM) used for the power quality improvement with a multilevel inverter based STATCOM. The induction generation based wind form is practiced in that topology. Real and reactive power analysis and STATCOM compensation have been studied.
