Abstract

Mithila has been the champion of eternal religion since ancient times. Due to being associated with religious sentiments, they used to worship idols, for this there was a great demand for idols of popular deities. At the same time, the idol was made elaborately from the costumes. Black stone idols were also made. Simraunga was the best for idols. Even before the emergence of Nanyadeva, idol worship and construction in Mithila had attained great importance such as Kamaladitya idol Andharathadhi (Madhubani), Surya idol Barauni, Surya idol Kandaha (Saharsa) about 3-4 km from Satarwad. M North where many inscriptions of Harisinghdev are also found and the script is engraved on black stone on the gate of the Sun Temple which is not yet read, Surya Murthy Jayamangalagar Vasistharadhita Tara Murthy Mahishi (Saharsa), Taramurti (Vaishali) etc. On the occasion of worship of Durga Kali, Saraswati etc., many artistic sculptures of clay were made in Mithila.
