Abstract

The present study is to make a comparative study of the aspiration level of the students studying in the colleges of urban and rural areas of Varanasi division. The survey method has been used in the study under descriptive research. As a population, the girls studying in the colleges of Jaunpur, Ghazipur and Varanasi districts under Varanasi division are considered as population. As a precedent, a total of 6 colleges have been selected and 400 students have been selected by random method in which 200 students of art class and 200 students of science class have been selected. The "Career Aspiration Scale" created by Dr. Sarita Anand has been used as a tool to measure the aspiration level of female students. Medium, standard deviation, standard error and T-ratio statistical methods have been used for analysis of data. The following findings were obtained after the study- Aspiration level of rural girls was found to be lower than that of urban girls due to lack of resources in rural areas due to low literacy of parents as well as education in rural areas. The environment may be less conducive and the students may be less motivated.
