Abstract

The architect of modern India and the father of democracy in India, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891 in Mhow Cantonment of Indore district of Madhya Pradesh. His mother's name was Bhimabai and father's name was Ramjirao Malaji Sakpal, who was in the rank of Subedar in the military. Dr. Ambedkar had to deal with struggles right from his birth. Mother died in childhood. Dr. Ambedkar also had to struggle to get education. They had to face the prevailing caste system, religious superstitions, rituals, economic crisis, economic inequality in Indian society. To fight these inequalities, Dr. Ambedkar made education his weapon. Dr. Ambedkar started the Indian political and social movement after completing his studies from the University of Mumbai, Columbia University, University of London. He said that our slaves are thousands of years old, which is the result of the system here, which is very important to change. They wanted to uproot the brahminical system from India. The Brahminical system divided the society into caste and varna system, nurtured inequality, in which there was no place for scientific thinking and humanity. Starting his role as a teacher, he also did advocacy work and started fighting for the Dalit exploited society. Dr. Ambedkar started giving practical shape to social and political movements. By burning Manusmriti, Babasaheb laid the foundation for the abolition of the law that spread inequality. To get the untouchables the right to take water from the Chobdar pond, did the Mahad Satyagraha. Satyagraha was done for the untouchables in the Kalaram temple so that they could enter the temple. In 1935 he vowed not to stay in Hinduism. Demanded independence of India and rights for untouchables in the Round Table Conference.
