Abstract

New oxazole derivative of substitutednaphthol were ecofriendly and efficiently be synthesized like 2-(2-amino-1, 3-oxazol-4-yl)-4-substitutednaphthalen-1-ol by cyclization of 1-[2-(4-Substituted-1-hydroxynaphthalen-2-yl)-2-oxoethyl]thiocarbamide by utilizing elemental sulphur as a chief, easily available, non toxic catalyst. Some of these compounds were screen for their antimicrobial and antifungal activity against some selected microbe like C. albicans, A. niger, S. Typhi, E. coli, S. dysenteriae, K. pneumoniae, S. aureus by agar well diffusion assay method carried out. The compounds screen against selected microbe shows good results.
