Abstract

The increased surface area of nanoscale metal photocatalysts may promote the degradation of environmental pollutants. Fenugreek extract and FeCl3.6H2O precursor were used to biosynthesize hematite (α-Fe2O3) nanoparticles (NPs), which were then characterized by FTIR, SEM, EDX, and XRD techniques. Under ultraviolet light, the photoinduced adsorption of methyl orange dye was investigated with fenugreek extract-derived α-Fe2O3 NPs acting as a photocatalyst. The highest photodegradation efficiency under optimal conditions was 65%.
